Master Mind

Humans have lived in cities for the last 10,000 years. Before that it was absolutely essential for our survival to have hair-trigger responses, if say, a tiger suddenly attacked. You might have been admiring a field of flowers, when suddenly your consciousness was overridden by an instant emotional response that would squirt adrenaline into your blood so your muscles would become jet powered.

This survival mechanism is our flight or flight response that programs us to to be on alert for threat. It also programs us for us-and-them judgments, paranoia, instant anger, instant fear, the feeling of having to be on guard all the time and other automatic thoughtless reactions.

This kind of consciousness in our biocomputers magnifies molehills into mountains, dominating our consciousness and creating a constant distortion, destroying our energy, our insight and our ability to love. It’s us against “them”.

As civilization has continued to grow, our survival now depends on cooperation and mutual interdependence with the people around us for the creation of all of the benefits of a modern world and a peaceful life.

We tend to think that the world is all about survival of the fittest and competition but we wouldn’t even have bodies if it were not for cooperation. In a healthy body all of its parts work in perfect harmony with one another. Even inside each cell, our little power-plant mitochondria produce energy and the outer cell provides nutrients and shelter. This is called endo-symbiosis. Endo means inner. Exo means outer. Endosymbiosis.

We can have that cooperation in our inner and our outer life.

Stress and Addictive Behavior

Fixed preprogrammed behavior causes us to guard and protect closely held habitual assumptions about the way things ought to be and about personal habit patterns. These paranoid dualistic people tend to get heart trouble, ulcers, etc., are accident prone and are unable to love themselves. This happens when the fight-or-flight mechanism gets stuck in the “on” position all the time. This creates ongoing stress. Feeling so alienated and separated from other people causes suffering and unhappiness. The ought-to-be’s of living in the future and the should-have-been’s from dwelling in the past creates addictive behavior to cope with the pain of wallowing in useless regret over the past and anxiety over the future.

Addictive behavior is like a bandaid we use to cover the pain. To attempt to soothe and distract ourselves we may find ourselves addicted to sugar, starch, alcohol, drugs, status and the accumulation of status symbols, shopping, TV. The list goes on. These attempts are fruitless in the long run because they are only temporary and even downright destructive.

A Better Way

You can reprogram your amazing biocomputer, the most remarkable instrument in the universe. It is capable of handling 2 million bits of visual inputs and one hundred thousand auditory inputs at any one time. For example, your DNA solves all sorts of intricate problems every second. It stores information (hardware), executes commands (software) and even contains instructions to make more of itself (and makes you in the process). And it turns out that we can properly program our biocomputers to create the wide-ranging insight, deep intuitive understanding, comprehension and flexibility that can flow in mutually supportive and loving ways. Ways that produce happiness, compassion, tolerance, love and a feeling of deep peace.

Too Frazzled? Try This

Meditation is an efficient technique used to quiet the mind and body and remove tension. The important thing to know is that it has nothing to do with religion. Think of when your computer gets all discombobulated and it needs to be defragged or turned off and turned back on to give it a chance to sort itself out. This is just a technique for defragging the body, mind and emotions.

When we sleep, we enter a deep state of rest. Our metabolic rate decreases 12% over a period of 6 hours. In meditation, we reach a state that is even deeper and more profound. Our rate slows 16% in only 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how soon we can reach that deep state of quiet in which brain rewires itself and our nervous systems normalizes themselves. This natural physiological change in our metabolic rate is due to a lowered requirement for oxygen by the cells during this period of deep rest. It is quick, effortless, automatic, quite easy and very refreshing.

We can just let our thoughts fly away like birds. Shoo, shoo, shoo, shh, shh. Let them go and come back to quiet. We can watch our breathing if we like, however, there is no concentration involved because concentration requires effort.

Like anything, the more we do it, the better we get it at doing it. People keep their cars tuned up and their oil changed. They tune up their bodies with exercise. This is a tune up twice a day (to keep the benefits constant) for your consciousness. This naturally allows creativity, awareness, intelligence, efficiency, spontaneity, strength, contentment, alertness, love and joy to increase. These benefits have actually been measured. We naturally tune into (resonate with) the unified field of energy that underlies and creates all of nature and the universe that we are so intimately a part of.

Who wouldn’t want that?

Monster Mind (Thumbs Down) or Master Mind (Thumb Up)

I used to feel like I was often being attacked by the “Mood Monster”. I would have to consciously remind myself to stop and breathe deep and let my shoulders drop down and back. I always used to notice that Michael Jackson carried his shoulders in a high tense position because, since early childhood, he had experienced so much stress and pressure in his life to perform and be in the public spotlight. He always used to say he never felt like he had a childhood, carefree like children should be able to experience in their early years.

It’s wonderful to think we can create Master Minds. Master Minds retrain their biocomputers to harness their energies to flow with the outside world and feel at home in it. This is so much more effective and enjoyable.

I Have To

This idea can create feelings of unfulfillment and desperation as we attempt to force people and situations to fulfill our expectations and heap blame on them when we feel disappointed.

I Want To, I Need

It’s hard not to use these words. However, they imply a lack of something. Let us say that you were doing affirmations. Wanting something always locates it in the future. You cannot receive something when it is not in the present.

“Presents are presented in the present.”

I Prefer, I Intend, I am Creating, I Choose, I Have

These are words of creativity and visualization. We are creating something that is in the process of arriving. Feelings of expectation create confidence, radiating positive emotions. This is like tuning our radios to the right frequency to set it on the right station and receive what is being transmitted on that frequency. Experiences that match the frequency of the emotions we send out are naturally attracted by them. That is why feelings of gratitude and love are so handy. People rejoice and go, “Thank you, thank you”, when prosperity comes into their lives. Give love to receive love. Rejoice in advance.

It is important to know that our feelings have more power than our words. The words are used to generate emotions. Thoughts in our heads don’t have the electromagnetic power of our hearts and our whole bodies behind them like our emotions do.

Negative Thinking

Worry, frustration, angry , fearful and discouraging thoughts and feelings create failure and disappointment because we then think, “What’s the use?” Our energy goes down the drain. Negative thinking is just no fun!

Positive Thinking

It is often more fun to think of something, like working a puzzle, as a challenge. People work puzzles because they enjoy the challenge, not because they think it is a horrible obstacle.

When we are grateful for opportunities we believe in ourselves. When we look for the good in situations, we look on the bright side of life and say yes to life, learn, grow and celebrate life.

Manifesting Parking Places

This is an example of allowing our sense of knowingness to resonate with the flow of events, pulling preferred results to us.

I used to never be able to find a parking place when I lived in San Francisco where they can be really hard to find. I would hunt for one for a half an hour and finally give up and go home as I had already missed the beginning of the movie I had wanted to see.

Later, I had a job in a part of town where it was almost impossible to find a spot and parking in a lot was $7.00 a day. Just for fun, I decided to expect that someone who lived in the area would be leaving for work just as I approached, and their spot would be open for me to pull right into.

I discovered that it only worked as long as doubt did not creep into my mind. If I filled my heart with gratitude it would crowd out the doubt. That was hard to do for a long period of time so I would wait to start right before I came to an area where I would like to park. I got better and better at it.

One day, I told a doctor who did cranial sacral adjustments and other energy work and he said, “ What I do is I wake up every morning and I just KNOW that there will be a parking space available for me right where I want it every time and I never give it another thought all day. Works great.” I thought, “Well, that sounds a heck of a lot easier!”

I have a friend, Elyse, who took a playful attitude towards it. She said the “Parking Fairy” liked chocolate so she would always throw a bit out the car window right before she needed a space and, sure enough, she pulled right into one, sometimes right in front of the door with money in the meter!

Sailors on the Sea

Before sailors sailed with instruments, they would see driftwood and birds before they saw land. They took these as signs that land was near. If we are not seeing results right away, we just may be perfecting your skills. The desired result might be on the way. We might feel disgusted if we are only seeing “driftwood” but just remember the sailors who celebrated when they saw driftwood “Land ho!”

We can expect all kinds of things. I always expect answers my questions to come to me quickly. I used to be astonished at how they would pop up in an hour or a day or so from the most unexpected sources. Now I just trust in it.

Trust and Faith in Action

This is trust and faith in action. People with negative attitudes would go, “I can’t stand it! It’s impossible!”, when they come up against an obstacle or a difficult situation. They might rant and rave endlessly and make themselves completely miserable and ineffective.

A positive attitude confronts the same situation and uses it as an opportunity to develop new skills. They can come to the understanding that they can be in the flow, being in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. No stress, no competition. Money in the parking meter.
